Ladrón Cellars Winery

The wine's name, Ladrón, meaning "thief" in Spanish, reflects the careful sourcing of grapes from varied vineyards on California's central coast. The winery is owned by Richard and Tracy Crockett, who make wine using grapes from California.

A Hidden Gem in Denver, Colorado

Ok, I have been impatiently waiting to share this one with you all... Ladrón Cellars is an artisanal winery located in Metropolitan Denver, Colorado. The winery specializes in producing premium wines with grapes sourced from award-winning vineyards on California's Central Coast. For example, they acquired their Zinfindel from G2 Vineyard, which is an extremely high-quality vineyard located in the Paso Robles Willow Creek AVA. This vineyard is utilized by numerous renowned winemakers in California. So. Delicious.

History

LadrónCellars was founded in 2008 by Richard and Tracy Crockett, who have been making wine for over 20 years. The winery started as a small operation in their garage, where they produced wine for family and friends. Over time, the winery grew, and in 2011, Ladrón Cellars opened its first tasting room in Englewood, Colorado. Today, Ladrón Cellars is a popular Metro Denver tasting room that features California-based wines.

Wines

Ladrón Cellars produces a variety of wines, including red blends comprised of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Grenache, and Tempranillo, as well as white blends comprised of Grenache Blanche and Clariette Blanche, as well as phenomenal concrete-fermented Chardonnay sourced from Bien Nacido Vineyards in Santa Maria, California.

They have been awarded a Silver Medal in the Colorado Governors Cup for one of their White Wine Blends, Evidence. This particular blend has been recognized for its exceptional quality and taste, making it truly delicious. Also, wine critic Jeb Dunnuck has given high praise to two of their other red wines, Graffiti and Grafter, awarding them each with impressive 90-point ratings. It is clear they are dedicated to producing only the finest wines, and their hard work and commitment have certainly paid off.

Personally, my current favorite is the Vault.

This Cabernet Sauvignon-forward blend has a robust flavor profile of blueberry, blackberry, black cherry, fig, and dusty cocoa, with light notes of oak and vanilla. It finishes beautifully with a full body. It is simply fantastic and an incredible expression of a Northern California Cabernet Sauvignon.

Fun Fact: The artwork on all the wine bottles was created by artist Phil Lear from Colorado Springs. Richard discusses the wine with Phil, who then creates a stunning painting to capture it and bring it all together.
